Day 1: Fes – Ifrane – Cedar Forest – Ziz Valley – Merzouga Desert
Leave Fes in the morning and drive through the Middle Atlas Mountains. First, stop in Ifrane, a pretty town with small houses built in an Alpine style. Walk in its clean streets and enjoy the fresh mountain air.
Next, visit the Cedar Forest of Azrou, where you can see the Barbary monkeys and the tall cedar trees. After that, continue through the Tizi n’Talghamt Pass and the green Ziz Valley, known for its many date palm trees and wide views. By the afternoon, you will arrive in Merzouga.
Here, you will go to the Beldi Desert Camp, set near the high Erg Chebbi dunes.
At the camp, you will get a warm Berber welcome with mint tea and settle into your private tent with a soft bed and your own bathroom. In the evening, enjoy a tasty Moroccan dinner under the stars, with traditional Berber music by the fire.
Day 2: Merzouga Desert Exploration – Camel Trek – Beldi Camp
Start your day with a good breakfast before exploring the desert. Take a 4×4 tour to visit Khamlia Village, where you can listen to the strong rhythms of Gnawa music played by locals. You will also learn about the culture of the area and meet Berber families to see their simple nomad way of life. After that, return to the camp for lunch and some time to relax. Later in the afternoon, go on a camel ride across the golden Erg Chebbi dunes. Watch the sunset as it colors the sand and enjoy the quiet of the desert. Don’t forget to take beautiful photos. In the evening, return to the camp for a tasty dinner. Sit by the fire, listen to Berber music, and share stories with other travelers. You can also look up at the sky and enjoy the bright stars shining over the Sahara.
Day 3: Sunrise Over the Dunes – Merzouga – Fes
Wake early to witness the sunrise over the dunes, a mesmerizing spectacle as the desert comes alive with warm hues of orange and gold.
After a delicious breakfast at the camp, enjoy a leisurely camel ride or 4×4 transfer back to Merzouga. Begin your return journey to Fes, retracing your route through the Ziz Valley and the Middle Atlas Mountains.
Stop for lunch at a local restaurant and take in the scenic beauty along the way. Arrive in Fes by evening, with unforgettable memories of your desert adventure.
